Mission Monday

My friend Peggy at Mazes, Messes, Miracles and Amazing Grace has started a new Monday meme called Mission Mondays.
She quotes Rick Warren in the Purpose Driven Life as saying we were all made for a mission. She would like for us to write about life message or mission. It can be a short term or a long term mission. It can be a personal mission or a mission of someone else or organization that you feel is important and would like to share about. You can find all the details here.
I'm a little late getting this up today but I wanted to join in and spread the word about this neat new meme. Anyone who has read my blog for any length of time knows that my son has epilepsy, and that epilepsy awareness and education are very important to me. As a matter of fact in November, which is Epilepsy Awareness Month, I will be featuring famous people who have epilepsy.
My family is very active in a group called Epilepsy Advocates. It is very important to us change the stigma attached to epilepsy so that Spencer will be allowed the same opportunities as everyone else. There is a ton of information on the Epilepsy Advocate website which you can link to from Spencer's picture on the sidebar.
I encourage you to go visit Peggy, see what some other people's missions are, and join in on spreading the word on what ever you feel your mission is.
Blessings to you,
Amy

Thank YOU Amy and Spencer! Welcome to Mission 4 Monday! This was an important issue and what I see as your life mission. Spencer deserves
the same opportunities as all. He has fought a tough fight and has had a rough year. This was the first time I actually went and clicked to read about Epilepsy. I'm glad that you posted this(after so much...):( I just knew that this is more than an educational awareness, it's a heart issue. I was trying to find the story you recently shared.
Spencer, Lucia,Greg & you & even Mary Lyndsey are a team! You earn the Gold in my Olympic book!
I know you have a full schedule but I believe everyone should hear and know how to join you and support this cause! I truly pray for you because these last few weeks have been one big roller coaster and you need support and constant prayer. I appreciate so much having you as such an important mission and your life message tells me that Spencer will breakthrough this stigma, and
with your strength and love, he will know that you & Greg are always behind him 100%! You are all a blessing! As I watch your family and all the ordeals you take in stride, I thank God for each moment you overcome one more seizure! I pray that they lessen and those drs. see you sooner! I look forward to learning more in November!!!
May you see more Signs of improvement, Miracles of healing, and Wonders daily as Spencer becomes free from Epilepsy, finding HIS ADVOCACY in OUR FATHER'S HANDS of GREAT LOVE & HEALING thru JESUS

Hi Amy... Thanks for sharing. Yes, I get that epilepsy is a major part of your life and thus it isn't surprsing at all that this would be your Mission Monday post. Although I had absence seizures when I was younger (outgrew them and not as severe as the seizures that Spencer has), I was not fully aware of the impact that this condition has on families until I started checking in at your blog. Praying for you and your family. Continue to fight the good fight and bring hope and awareness to others. God bless and love - Cristine

Hi, Amy. Welcome to Mission 4 Monday! So glad you are able to join us this week. Thank God for His mercies to Spencer and your family as you care for him. You have a great mission in sharing Epilepsy Awareness and Education! Spencer and others like him do deserve the same opportunities just like everyone else. Thanks for sharing with us the link to Epilepsy Advocates. Glad your family is active there to help change the stigma of epilepsy. May God continue to bless you as you serve Him in this important mission. May He also continue to strengthen and restore Spencer, and lessen his episodes. Thanks for sharing with us. Take care and have a blessed week!

It's amazing really; I thought the stigma was something we only experienced here in Africa...I will definitely keep Spencer in my Prayers. Thanks for sharing and God bless.

Mission Monday sounds like a great idea, I am going to check it out.

It is awesome that you are involved with this epilepsy group. I think change occurs when people like you, who are experiencing this first hand, become advocates. I am learning a lot through your blog and check out the info you give since my niece has epilepsy.
