Then Sings My Soul Saturday

I hope you are all having a great Christmas season. So far ours has been very busy. The kids are super excited about this upcoming week. All the school parties were yesterday, so we are already all "sugared up." Sorry I'm late posting this week. Like I said, it's been rather busy around here.
Hope you enjoy this song. The video has beautiful artwork with it.
Have a blessed weekend.

Then Sings My Soul Saturday - Janet Roller - Mary's Song

I hope you all are enjoying the most wonderful time of the year. We've got all the trees up and the decorations outside. I've almost finished the Christmas shopping and the school parties are almost planned. I've completed one batch of the baking, the kids are eating the chocolate out of the advent calendards and the Christmas carols are playing nonstop. But more than anything this Christmas, I'm trying to remember the most important thing about the season - Jesus!

Luke 1:35-49 (New International Version)
35The angel answered, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called[a] the Son of God. 36Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be barren is in her sixth month. 37For nothing is impossible with God."
38"I am the Lord's servant," Mary answered. "May it be to me as you have said." Then the angel left her.

39At that time Mary got ready and hurried to a town in the hill country of Judea, 40where she entered Zechariah's home and greeted Elizabeth. 41When Elizabeth heard Mary's greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. 42In a loud voice she exclaimed: "Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the child you will bear! 43But why am I so favored, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? 44As soon as the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy. 45Blessed is she who has believed that what the Lord has said to her will be accomplished!"

Mary's Song
46And Mary said:
"My soul glorifies the Lord
47and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,
48for he has been mindful
of the humble state of his servant.
From now on all generations will call me blessed,
49for the Mighty One has done great things for me—
holy is his name.

Can you imagine what it must have felt like to be Mary? Here's hoping you ponder all the wonder of Christmas in your hearts.

This song was written and performed by my good friend Janet Roller. Check out her site if you would like to hear more of her songs.

Then Sings My Soul Saturday

This one has been in my head this week. Hope you enjoy!
Revelation 1:8
"I am the Alpha and Omega," says the Lord God,
"who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty."
Psalm 46:10
"Be still and know that I am God."

Then Sings My Soul Saturday - Heaven

I heard this one for the first time this week and wept.

He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away. Revelation 21:4

Then Sings My Soul Saturday

Found this one recently and love it. We are all in need of a Savior.
We know that we live in Him and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit and we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world. If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in him and he in God.
1 John, 4:13-14

Then Sings My Soul Saturday -Kutless

I love this new song out by Kutless. Their new album It Is Well released on October 20. This is the first single. The words are great. And so true... I've seen miracles happen.
Have a blessed weekend!

Kutless “What Faith Can Do”
Everybody falls sometimes
Gotta find the strength to rise
From the ashes and make a new beginning
Anyone can feel the ache
You think it’s more than you can take
But you are stronger, stronger than you know
Don’t you give up now
The sun will soon be shining
You gotta face the clouds To find the silver lining
I’ve seen dreams that move the mountains
Hope that doesn’t ever end
Even when the sky is falling
And I’ve seen miracles just happen
Silent prayers get answered
Broken hearts become brand new
That’s what faith can do

It doesn’t matter what you’ve heard
Impossible is not a word
It’s just a reason for someone not to try
Everybody’s scared to death
When they decide to take that step
Out on the water
It’ll be alright
Life is so much more Than what your eyes are seeing
You will find your way
If you keep believing

I’ve seen dreams that move the mountains
Hope that doesn’t ever end
Even when the sky is falling
And I’ve seen miracles just happen
Silent prayers get answered
Broken hearts become brand new
That’s what faith can do

Overcome the oddsYou do have a chance
(That’s what faith can do)
When the world says you can’t
It’ll tell you that you can!

I’ve seen dreams that move the mountains
Hope that doesn’t ever end
Even when the sky is falling
And I’ve seen miracles just happen
Silent prayers get answered
Broken hearts become brand new
That’s what faith can do
That’s what faith can do!
Even if you fall sometimes
You will have the strength to rise.

Then Sings My Soul Saturday - Mercy Me

Though He slay me, I will hope in Him.
Job 13:15
I say to myself, "The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for Him."
The Lord is good to those whose hope is in Him, to the one who seeks Him;
it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.
Lamentations 3:24-26
The Lord is close to the brokenhearted. He saves those who are crushed in spirit.
Psalm 34:18
I heard this song on the radio today. It's a little older, but it speaks to me everytime I hear it. There are so many people hurting, despairing, ready to give up.
Please don't give up hope. The Lord is near.

Have a blessed weekend.

Then Sings My Soul Saturday

I'm a little nostalgic this week. I'm planning to attend my 20th high school reunion tomorrow night. I can't believe 20 years passed so quickly. To try to get into the mood, I was listening to old songs from the 80's this week. I love all kinds of music so I pulled out some oldies but goodies, both Christian and secular. I debated on what to post this week and decided on Christian. I think this song might have actually come out in 1988, not sure exactly, but I know I listened to it in high school. I hope you enjoy!
Have a blessed week!

Please continue to pray for baby Grace who is still in the NICU. Also pray for Spencer. He had a seizure this week which required a trip to the hospital. We know that in all things God is still in control and we will give him praise, honor and glory!

Listening and Obeying the First Time

5 Minutes for Faith - Daily Devotions for Moms

If you are a parent, there are probably some things your children do that drive you absolutely crazy! I know there are lots of things mine do that sometimes cause me to want to scream. I love them with all my heart, but they sure can frustrate me at times. One of the biggies at our house is ignoring someone when they are speaking to you. This usually only happens when the television is on.

Then Sings My Soul Saturday - Grace

This weekend I am dedicating TSMS Saturday to Grace Caroline Hatcher. She is the brand new daughter born to my good friend Carol at Sheep to the Right this past Wednesday. She was 9 lbs. 9 oz. and was born on 09/09/09. She could use your prayers. She is in the NICU right now but is doing well. We hope and pray she will be able to come home with Carol and Alan very soon. Please be praying for her and for their entire family. If you get a chance to pop over to Carol's site and leave her a prayer or word of encouragement, please do. As you bless her by visiting, you too will be blessed by her awesome devotions and words of encouragement to others.
But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. 2 Corinthians 12:9

I am so thankful He allows me to walk in his daily sufficient grace each day. I know I have posted this song before, but I love it and felt it was appropriate, so I am sharing it again.

I hope you all have a blessed weekend.
Come home soon Baby Grace!

Then Sings My Soul Saturday

Been listening to this one all week.
Such a feel good song.

Five Minutes for Faith - Questions.

5 Minutes for Faith - Daily Devotions for Moms

I struggle with lots of things in my life, my weight, certain family relationships, feeling like I’m keeping up with everything that needs to be done, but there are some days these things are OK. I am at peace with them, and it doesn’t feel like a constant battle. However, the one thing I am always fighting against is the sense of helplessness and loss of control over my son’s seizures. It’s always nagging at the back of my mind.  I’m always questioning, will he have a seizure today? If so, will we go to the hospital? Should we change his meds? Should we see a new doctor? Could I be doing something different to help him? Questions, questions, questions!  And I’m a girl who likes answers.

Then Sings My Soul Saturday

First week of school is done! Whew! It was a little rough. We had some tears from the new kindergartner and Spencer had a seizure on Tuesday, but overall a great week.
Mary Lyndsey did ask this morning if we could call and tell them we couldn't come today:-)
I think she's glad it's Saturday.
Enjoy Saturday like we will with some great praise and worship music!

Then Sings My Soul Saturday

It's been a crazy week once again. I can't believe the summer is over and we start school on Monday. I'm really ready to get back into a regular routine, even though I will miss traveling and sleeping late when we are home. I hope to get back into the regular blogging routine now that our schedule will slow down a bit. I've been missing all my blogosphere buddies.
Not a whole lot to share about this week's song, other than the admission that I'm trying really hard to let go of my perfectionism. And I am amazed every day by my perfect God.
This is a great song by Natalie Grant.

Hope you have a fantastic weekend!

Amy

Then Sings My Soul Saturday - The Mountain of God

We've been having a great weekend in the mountains of Tennessee for one last hoorah vacation before school starts. It's been lots of fun. It's so beautiful. I'll have to post some pictures later this week. Being in the mountains reminds me of this great song by Third Day.

Then Sings My Soul Saturday - Remedy Drive

I'm posting early this week. Hopefully, Mr. Linky will work!
Wooh, what a crazy week! As soon as Spencer and I returned from Wisconsin on Tuesday, we left for Colorado on Thursday for another epilepsy program. What fun! We are thankful for a great program and safe travel!
Of course when you are on a plane as much as we were this week, there's not much to do but read. I re-read a great book on this trip called When the Soul Listens by Jan Johnson. In it, Jan talks about prayer, and she highlights that we must believe that God is with us all the time, everywhere.
She says:
"Scripture assures us that God is present everywhere, at the same time: 'If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me.' Psalm 139:8-10
The problem is not that God goes away, but that we are unaware of his presence.
This song sort of reminds me that. Sometimes we are unware of His presence and we miss Him.
In the words of the song:
"I finally found what I could never see before, You've always been the one that I was looking for. I won't miss you this time."
I pray you and I won't miss His presence. He's been right here with us, All Along.

Understanding the Voice of the Father

5 Minutes for Faith - Daily Devotions for Moms

As I walked with my son and our service dog through the airport, a little boy about three years old came over to pet our dog. He was chattering away trying to carry on a conversation the entire time he patted her head. I’m not sure if he was speaking to me or the dog; but either way, I didn’t understand a word he said.

Then Sings My Soul Saturday - In the Hands of God

Mr.Linky is up now!! Some links to people's posts may be in the comments. Check those too for more great songs.

For some reason this week, I've had "hands" on my mind. I began to notice how much my hands resemble my mom's. Then I wondered if Mary Lyndsey's hands would look like mine when she gets older. Then, I began to wonder how much my hands resemble those of my Heavenly Father. Do I offer rest and hope to others as He does to me?

In His hands, we find hope, strength and rest.
You are amazing Lord, and we praise you for what your hands have done.

For you make me glad by your deeds, O Lord; I sing for joy at the works of your hands. Psalm 92:4

Hope you have a blessed weekend!

Then Sings My Soul Saturday - Drifter

Not long ago I read an article by Charles Stanley about the danger of drifting. (If you would like to see the outline of his sermon click here.) It impacted me greatly because I have really been struggling lately in my spiritual walk. It made me realize that anyone can fall into the enemy's trap and suddenly find themselves way off the path God has set out for them. The good news is He is always ready and willing to help us find our way back to Him.

I love this song by December Radio. Hope you guys enjoy it too.

Then Sings My Soul Saturday

Anyone who has watched TV the last two days knows Michael Jackson's death has completely taken over the news in current events. Whether you liked him or not, he definitely made an impact on the world - in both good and bad ways. One positive thing he did was to donate to lots of charities.
I wanted to pick out a song by him this weekend because I have to admit, I listened to my share of Thriller back in the day. I even caught the World Premier Event of the video on MTV.
This Michael Jackson song is not a typical TSMS kind of song, but I think the message is one that can be.

If you would like to sponsor a child to help make a change, you can visit one of these sites.

Compassion International or World Vision.

James 1:22 -25 Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it—he will be blessed in what he does.

What kinds of changes would you like to make? Start today.

Sweet Blessings,

Amy

Then Sings My Soul Saturday - Big Daddy Weave

Hi Friends,

We've had lots of new people join in the past few weeks on TSMS Saturdays! I'm so excited you have enjoyed the music and are participating. I also haven't been able to visit all of our new friends... but thanks for joining in. I'm glad you found us. I'm also glad that "He Found Me" - my song choice for this week by the way.

Hope you have a great weekend.

BTW... Spencer and I both have pneumonia so please pray for a quick recovery for both of us. We came home from the beach and both got sick.

Gaining through Losing

5 Minutes for Faith - Daily Devotions for Moms
I was reading a book a friend of mine wrote today and one of his statements jumped off the page at me. “Gaining through losing isn’t fun.” It was one of those statements I had to dwell on a few moments and allow it to roll around in my head for a little while. In his circumstance, my friend was referring to a sickness that cost him a great deal of his brain function, and what he had gained as a result of that loss.

Then Sings My Soul Saturday - Johnny Diaz

One day this week, I was helping Mary Lyndsey (my 5 year old) get dressed. Out of the blue she asked, "Mommy, do you think I'm fat?" I couldn't believe it! At five she is already starting to notice the hype about body image. She is not even 40 pounds soaking wet. She is not fat! We had a discussion about how beautiful she is and that we want to be healthy, but not overly concerned with weight.
I also have a friend who has a five year old. Recently, she overheard her five year old and my five year old having a conversation. Apparently, her daughter is concerned about all the hair on her legs. She thinks it's too dark and doesn't like it. She was telling Mary Lyndsey she thought it made her look like a boy - to which Mary Lyndsey responded... "You don't look like a boy, you look like a princess!"
Gotta love it when your friends support you - even at five! :-)
But in all seriousness, I hope these girls really do believe they are princesses. Because they are... they are daughters of the Almighty King. He created each of them uniquely to fulfill their own special purpose. It'll be difficult to make them believe this as they get older.
I heard this song on the radio this week and it made me ponder how I will get message across in the future.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend! And remember... there could never be a more beautiful you!

For some reason, the video is cutting of half the pictures, so I am posting the lyrics too!

Little girl fourteen flipping through a magazine Says she wants to look that way But her hair isn’t straight her body isn’t fake And she’s always felt overweight
Well little girl fourteen I wish that you could see That beauty is within your heart And you were made with such care your skin your body and your hair Are perfect just the way they are
There could never be a more beautiful you Don’t buy the lies disguises and hoops they make you jump throughYou were made to fill a purpose that only you could do So there could never be a more beautiful you
Little girl twenty-one the things that you’ve already doneAnything to get ahead And you say you’ve got a man but he’s got another plan Only wants what you will do instead
Well little girl twenty-one you never thought that this would come You starve yourself to play the part But I can promise you there’s a man whose love is trueAnd he’ll treat you like the jewel you are
So turn around you’re not too far To back away be who you areTo change your path go another wayIt’s not too late you can be savedIf you feel depressed with past regretsThe shameful nights hope to forgetCan disappear they can all be washed awayBy the one who’s strong can right your wrongsCan rid your fears dry all your tearsAnd change the way you look at this big worldHe will take your dark distorted viewAnd with His light He will show you truth And again you’ll see through the eyes of a little girl

Amy

Then Sings My Soul Saturday - I Cross My Heart

Today, I have to post a song I posted this time last year. I just can't help it. It's my wedding song... and today is my 16th Anniversary. I'll always have a soft spot for George Straight. I love the lyrics.
Our love is unconditional, We knew it from the start
I can see it in your eyes, You can feel it from my heart
from here on after Lets stay the way we are right now
And share all the love and laughter, That a lifetime will allow
Chorus:I cross my heart
And promise to Give all I've got to give
To make all your dreams come true
In all the world You'll never find
A love as true as mine
You will always be the miracle, That makes my life complete
And as long as theres still breath in me, I'll make yours just as sweet
As we look into the future, It's as far as we can see
So lets make each tomorrow, Be the best that it can be
Chorus
And if along the way we find a day, It starts to storm,
You've got the promise of my love To keep you warm

If you want to take a stroll down memory lane with me, you can click here and read this post.

Hope you have a fabulous weekend!

Memorial Day - Five Minutes for Faith

5 Minutes for Faith - Daily Devotions for Moms

Many of us will celebrate Memorial Day today with a cookout, picnic or parade. Kids are excited because it marks the end of school. Adults are excited because it usually means a day off work. But many have lost sight of what Memorial Day actually means. Originally called Decoration Day, it is a day to honor and remember those who have died in our nation’s service. It is a day to celebrate those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.

Many have family members who have served or are currently serving in our armed forces. I’m sure there are many stories that could be told to honor them. Today, I would like to share with you a story about one of my family members, Pfc Toby Braveboy from Coward, South Carolina – a brave boy from Coward.

I was really pleasantly surprised that he won. I've seen several people post this on Facebook today and thought I'd share it here too. Hope you enjoy!

Fly Like An Eagle

5 Minutes for Faith - Daily Devotions for Moms
“You are so strong.” It’s a comment I get quite often when my son ends up in the hospital with health challenges as a result of his epilepsy as he did once again this past week. Friends will say they don’t know how I do it. I often will respond by letting people know I absolutely couldn’t do it if it weren’t for the great God I serve. He is where my strength comes from. He is the one who lifts me up when I feel like I’m falling. Becoming strong in Him however, is sometimes not a fun process. It’s sort of like a baby eagle learning to fly.

Then Sings My Soul Saturday

Well it's been a pretty crazy week friends. After that sweet letter I received from Spencer last week, he gave us quite a scare. Sunday night he had a seizure that lasted almost two hours. We were airlifted to Children's at Scottish Rite and spent Monday and Tuesday in the hospital. He went back to school on Thursday and seems to be doing much better today. He's still very tired from all the meds though. It was pretty disappointing as we had been almost 12 weeks seizure free. The count for days has started again. Please pray for him as he still has 3 weeks of school left. He's ready to be done for the summer, but I guess we all are.
In the middle of all the craziness this week, Mary Lyndsey graduated from preschool on Thursday night. She looked so adorably cute in her cap and gown. Right as we were leaving the house to go to the ceremony, she went out the front door ahead of me and lifted her hands and shouted, "I'm graduating!" I had a flash forward to 13 years from now and just about couldn't keep it together as I watched her walk out the door. I know the years will fly by too quickly for me and before I know it she will be all grown up. They both will.
This is one of the songs they played at graduation last night. I love the lyrics and my kids love it of course because it's Hannah. I hope you enjoy it too. But I have to admit, I secretly don't want my little butterfly to fly away.

Sweet Blessings,

Amy

PS. I'll try to post pictures of Mary Lyndsey in cap and gown tomorrow!

Happy Mother's Day

Well, I woke up to breakfast in bed this morning with presents and homemade cards from the kids. Too sweet. Spencer had completed a worksheet in therapy for me where he had to list 8 adjectives to describe his mother then write sentences with each.
This is how he described me:
Great
Butiful
Tan Skin
Dark Hair
Caring
Loving
Joyful
Funny

Then he wrote:
She is a great cook.
She is always butiful.
Her tan skin shines bright.
Her dark hair shines in the sun.
She is so caring.
She is always loving.
She is so joyful.
She is funny at times.

I intend to keep it and show it to him when he is a teenager!

I also got this email link from a friend and thought I'd share in case you guys wanted to send it to your friends who are great mothers.
I hope all of you have a wonderful Mother's Day!
Sweet Blessings,

Then Sings My Soul Saturday - Free To Be Me

I've been hearing this song for a while on the radio and I love it!
The lyrics are so good. I hope you all enjoy it too!
 Happy Mother's Day!

At twenty years of age
I'm still looking for a dream
A war is already waged for my destiny
But You've already won the battle
And You've got great plans for me
Though I can't always see, 'cause...

I got a couple dents in my fender
Got a couple rips in my jeans
Try to fit the pieces together
But perfection is my enemy
And on my own I'm so clumsy
But on Your shoulders I can see
I'm free to be me

When I was just a girl
I thought I had it figured out
See my life will turn out right
And I'll make it here somehow
But things don't always come that easy
And sometimes I would doubt, 'cause...

And you're free to be you

Sometimes I believe
That I can do anything
Yet other times I think
I've got nothing good to bring

But You look at my heart and you tell me
That I've got all You seek
And it's easy to believe, even though...

And you're free to be you

Sweet Blessings,
Amy

Then Sings My Soul Saturday - Still

A few weeks ago a friend posted this song. It really spoke to me and I have been wanting to post it on TSMS since then. I'm feeling like I need to find some time to be still.
Be still and know that I am God. Psalm 46:10

Hoping you too will find some time to be still in His presence.

Sweet Blessings,

Amy

The Happiest Place On Earth

Well, we finally returned from Disney World and I'm back from Las Vegas for CLASS Personality Training. What a long two weeks it's been! I've alwasy heard Disney was the happiest place on earth, but I think today that home is! Thanks for all my bloggy friend prayers. Things went smoothly and we didn't have any seizures!! I've got lots of pictures to share but just wanted to upload this one for tonight.

Sweet dreams my friends,

Amy

Good Fortune

5 Minutes for Faith - Daily Devotions for Moms

Is America in constant need of good news? It seems all we ever see on television is bad news. I’mnot one for watching the news everyday, because almost every story reported is full of turmoil and tragedy.

Then Sings My Soul Saturday - Sanctus Real

I can't believe I just found this group recently. I'm not sure how old this song is, but I heard it on the radio and loved it. I hope you do too! The lyrics are great!

It's time for healing time to move on It's time to fix what's been broken too long

Time to make right what has been wrong It's time to find my way to where I belong

There's a wave that's crashing over me And all I can do is surrender

(Chorus)Whatever You're doing inside of meIt feels like chaos but somehow there's peace

It's hard to surrender to what I can't seebut I'm giving in to something Heavenly

Time for a milestone Time to begin again

Reevaluate who I really am Am I doing everything to follow Your will

Or just climbing aimlessly over these hills

So show me what it is You want from me I give everything I surrender...To...

(Chorus)

Time to face up Clean this old house Time to breathe in and let everything out

That I've wanted to say for so many years Time to release all my held back tears

Whatever You're doing inside of me It feels like chaos

but I believe You're up to something bigger than than life something Heavenly

Whatever You're doing inside of me It feels like chaos but now I can see

This is something bigger than me Larger than life something Heavenly

Something Heavenly It's time to face upClean this old house

Time to breathe in and let everything out

I hope He's doing something heavenly in you.
Sweet Blessings,
Amy
