Then Sings My Soul - Miracle of the Moment

I'm not sure how many of you watch LOST, but I never miss it. There was a line on this past week's show that stuck with me. In the storyline, the characters are traveling back and forth through time. On a few occasions, they have the opportunity to possibly run into themselves in the past. John, one of the characters avoids seeing himself. When Sawyer, another character confronts him about it, he asks John why he didn't go tell himself to do something different, that maybe it would change their future. John's response to him was that everything he did, right or wrong makes him who he is.
That's not exactly how John worded it, but the point was even if you could change the past, would you want to? Every experience good or bad has molded us into who we are today. It made me think of this song by Steven Curtis Chapman.

It's time for letting go All of our "if onlies" Cause we don't have a time machine
And even if we did Would we really want to use it
Would we really want to go change everything
Cause we are who and where and what we are for now
And this is the only moment we can do anything about
So breathe it in and breathe it out And listen to your heartbeat
There's a wonder in the here and now It's right there in front of you
And I don't want you to miss the miracle of the moment
There's only One who knows What's really out there waiting
And all the moments yet to be And all we need to know Is
He's out there waiting To Him the future's history
And He has given us a treasure called right now
And this is the only moment we can do anything about
So breathe it in and breathe it out And listen to your heartbeat
There's a wonder in the here and now It's right there in front of you
And I don't want you to miss the miracle of the moment
And if it brings you tears Then taste them as they fall
Let them soften your heart
And if it brings you laughter Then throw your head back
And let it go Let it go, yeah You gotta let it go
And listen to your heartbeat And breathe it in and breathe it out
And listen to your heartbeat There's a wonder in the here and now
It's right there in front of you
And I don't want you to miss the miracle of the moment
And breathe it in and breathe it out And listen to your heartbeat
There's a wonder in the here and now It's right there in front of you
And I don't want you to miss the miracle of the moment
Don't miss the miracle of here and now worrying about what happened yesterday.
Enjoy the miracle of each moment He blesses you with.
Sweet Blessings,
Amy

I LOVE this song. And That line from John was my favorite of the night. I think he said something like..."Because James, I needed that pain to bring me to where I am today." Or something like that...but when he said it, my husband and I both gasped and said that's such a good line. It's so true. And even though I know that, I so often think about the what ifs and if onlys...In reality, I should be thankful for every part of my past and concentrate on how I can glorify God every waking moment of my present. Thanks my friend.

I love this beautiful song too!

There are many things in my past that I wish that I could change but each one has molded me into who I am today.

I was talking to a friend last night about my first marriage and how terrible it was...but, I told her that if I could change it...I wouldn't because I have a beautiful son from that disasterous marriage. God takes the ugliest parts of our lives and makes some beautiful and valuable out of them. I am so thankful for that...oh, how I love Him so.

Happy TSMSS!

Okay...I have to stop in and say that line totally grabbed me, too! It's like that time (in another season) when he talked to Charlie about the butterfly (or the moth) needing to fight to get out of the cocoon because the struggle is what makes its wings strong enough to fly! Who knew John Locke would be such a wealth of wisdom? ;)

But I am so thankful for the fact that God has purpose in our pain and in our struggles! He is strengthening us to fly! He is bringing us to exactly where we need to be in Him. He is so, so good.

Praying for you as He uses the pain and struggles in your life.
Love to you,
K

this is so how I look at life. yes there are some BIG things that have created baggage that life would be easier without. but i know if I changed even one thing, I would likely not have the life I do now. Not that I'm thrilled with every area of my life now, but I couldn't risk my kids for anything.

I like the message in that song! Having been taught all my life that everything happens for a reason, the line "He has given us a treasure called right now And this is the only moment we can do anything about" , really speaks truth. Thanks for sharing this today!

I had never heard this song before. Thank you for sharing it. I blogged on TT @ being thankful for the present. Too often we live in the past or wait for the future. We forget the miracle of the moment.

Thanks for the reminder! I pray you have a wonderful Saturday!

That is such a good point. Yes, there are a couple of really hurtful blunders I'd love to undo, but perhaps they did shape me. I would have a hard decision in my lap if given the choice.

Have a blessed Saturday!

Blessings Amy...I don't want to miss the miracle of the moment. Hoping you have many miracles awaiting you with Spencer! May we bring all the glory to God for every one. I've been sick since Thurs. so even though I had this scheduled, I needed to get up &
add my name to you & Linky or else how could I "testify of love". This
was such a great song of Steven CC!
Thanks and have a wonderful weekend & a week of wonder, no "if onlies"

I love this song. I have never heard it before. Thanks for sharing it. Hearing these words "living for the moment" and the entire concept behind it is a truch God has been trying to teach me. Being thankful for today, right now this moment and all it means. Thanks for sharing it and allowing God to use you to speak to me today.
Many Blessings,
Sherry

A-men sis! I don't think I've ever heard that song, but it goes along with my feeling from my post for today, to Him the future is history, He knows that we can do this, He has given us the moment to live in and we just have to trust!

Beautiful!

great song! great reminder! Thanks! It is easy for me to wonder how things would of been different if I hadn't done something or other but I need to remember it could all be different.

Beautiful message! May be hard for us to trust Him fully when we are in pain, but we should always cling to Him, for in His own time, everything in our lives will be beautiful as He promised.
