Then Sings My Soul Saturday - Footprints in the Sand
This has been a very difficult week. Some of you have kept up with me on Facebook, and I appreciate all of your prayers and emails. Several people have asked me for an update on what happened, so here goes.
On Monday, Spencer had a neurologist appointment. I noticed his behavior was off when I picked him up from school. In the doctor's office waiting room, I called the nurse out because I felt he was having mini seizures. He had done this off and on all day last Saturday too. When we were examined by the doctor, he felt Spencer was in subclinical status and wanted us to go to the hospital to receive some meds by IV to try to stop the seizures. We agreed. When Spencer got the meds, he began to throw up and seize even more. They loaded even more meds and decided to admit us.
On Tuesday morning, he had an EEG. It showed seizure activity still, so they wanted to keep us and run a 24 hour video EEG. Also, Spencer was still very drugged from all the meds. All day Tuesday, Spencer had hallucinations and seized off and on. On Wednesday, the doctors told us we could go home but that he was still having seizure activity.
We came home on two new medications in addition to the ones we are already on. Spencer was unable to even walk unassisted until today. We are pretty sure he is still having lots of little seizures. We are hoping and praying that the new meds will kick in and work and that we can get the seizures under control. And we want him to get back to himself. He is still very drugged from all the medication. Please continue to be in prayer for him and for us. We are trying to get back to normal.
One of the ways we have tried to get back to normal was by watching American Idol. We recorded it while we were in the hospital and watched it with Spencer when we got home. He loves to watch the beginning auditions and thinks everyone is so funny.
I was watching the show with him and a girl sang this song. I had never heard it, but I went to look it up and loved it. It's been very appropriate for me this week.
The spelling on this video is not great, but the lyrics are. I've always loved this poem too.
I'm just continuing to remind myself that I am not alone. He is always with me and will carry me through.
Matthew 28:20 And surely I am with you always, even to the end of the age.
I hope you have a blessed week.
Amy
PS. There seems to be problem with Mr. Linky . I have received several emails saying it is not showing up. It is showing up on my site for me though. I think the server is down at Mr. Linky. Please keep checking back to try to link up for this week! Hopefully it will show up soon.
Thanks and sorry for the inconvenience.
PSS. I just looked at the blog at Mr. Linky and they are moving servers which is why they are down. It doesn't say when they will be back up. In the meantime, you can leave your url in your comment and hopefully people can find you that way.
I'm so sorry you have had a rough week. I sent the previous email without even reading it. As soon as I saw you had posted, I tried to link up. Praying things settle down and Spencer gets better quickly.
I'm sorry you guys have had such a rough week. I pray this week will be better and the doctor's will find the right medication to keep his seizures under control.
Take care my friend! I pray you can get some rest this weekend (((Hugs)))
There seems to be some technical difficulties with Mr. Linky tonight. It's showing up for some and not for others. I think their server may be down. Please keep checking back to link up. Hopefully the problem with be resolved soon. Thanks! Amy
Amy - Our son Joshua 3 had a very scary episode three weeks ago. We just had an EEG that he did not pass and we are having a CatScan done in a week to see what is going on!
Amy, I am sorry to hear about your son & I cannot imagine what it must be like but God is carrying you through. Such a beautiful song! Thank you for sharing & your family will be in our prayers. Blessings, Tammy
Hey girl. I had no idea what you were going through. I am praying for Spence. Will you please find me on facebook? I'm under Joy Stallworth. I have tried to find you several times and must be looking wrong...Love you!
My hearts goes out with you and your family. I know it is very difficult to watch your son go through this, I know that full well. I am lifting you up in prayers. I pray for strength and endurance, for comfort, for wisdom, for healing, for peace, and for more support to come your way. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
That poem is a classic and the song is beautiful. Aren't you glad He is there to carry you through this heart breaking time? Where would we be without Him? His comfort and peace are unmatchless.
Hi there! this is my 2nd time participating in Then Sings My Soul Saturday ,,, and I'm so excited to be a part of it.
As I played your song ... I was reminded quickly of a scripture I read in the Psalms just this week! I loved it so much I wrote it down so that I won't forget where to go back and find it... I love the poem "Footprints in the Sand" the poem first came to mind as I read the Word and now the song you chose reminded me of it again!...
PSALM 77:19 YOUR PATH LED THROUGH THE SEA, YOUR WAY THROUGH THE MIGHTY WATERS, though YOUR footprints were not seen.
Praying for you! We only had one seizure (almost 5 year old daughter) this summer and I was majorly stressed out. I can't imagine what you are going though.

I love the poem you mentioned and this song with it makes it speak more to ones heart. Thanks and i pray for you to get peace and strenght in this trying time. I pray for your sun for recovery and just meds.
Amy, I'm praying for you all. It really saddens me to hear about Spencer's seizing. I can't imagine how you feel, seriously. This song is so appropriate "when your heart is filled with sorry and despair, I'll cary you..."
Ohhhh Amy...I'm so sorry to hear what a rough time Spencer is having and you all. I have been praying for him but it seems there is never enough and I so appreciate the updates here on your blog cuz I don't have Facebook. I am able to pray more specifically with this information and it looks like you need some prayer also, of course. I do hope that they can determine better very soon what to give him medically so that he doesn't need so much and the accompanying problems and side effects. The poor sweetheart. I hope the days do not weary you more but that Jesus comes and truly carries you & Spencer.
I have not been around internet and even though I had one scheduled for Saturday, I was not able to link up until today! I realize that perhaps I won't get many TSMSS visitors but it was a good song that everyone knows. I just enjoyed the videos!
I also love this poem...as a matter of fact I shared Leona Lewis singing this once before. I know that though this is so difficult, Our Lord will & can & is carrying you and that precious son Spencer! I pray that you will have a blessed week also and peaceful & settled with complete healing & the right medication to make life more bearable & less difficult for Spencer. He desires some rest from this & a break from all the episodes. May Our Lord hold you close.
