Then Sings My Soul Saturday - Downhere

I heard this song on the way to the beach and I can't get the tune out of my head. I had never heard it. I'm not sure how old it is and I'm not familiar with this group, but I liked this song very much when I heard it. If anyone out there knows anything else great by them, please share! This one has a great video too.

Can't wait to hear all this week's selections. Don't forget to link to your TSMS post and not to your blog so that when we go to your site we get your TSMS post and not your most current post. Several people look at the songs all through the weekend! If you have questions about how to do this, just email me and I'll help you!

2007 "How Many Kings" Christian AC - #4 (12/28/07) Bethlehem Skyline

Ok Amy there's the info on the song! Here's info on the group:

Downhere is a Juno, Dove, and Covenant Award winning Christian rock (melodic alt-rock) band from Canada. They have released three albums to date, with the third being Wide-Eyed And Mystified, which was released on May 23, 2006. As with other bands such as Fleetwood Mac and Vertical Horizon, downhere has two lead singers.

The band was formed by Marc Martel and Jason Germain who were room mates at Briercrest Bible College in Caronport, Saskatchewan. Martel and Germain added fellow Canadians Tyson Manning and Jeremy Thiessen to the mix and released a now out-of-print, self-titled debut CD on Slyngshot Records. That album was re-worked with new bassist Glenn Lavender and became their debut international release through Word Records.

Their second album, also released through Word Records was called So Much For Substitutes. In 2006 they signed to Centricity Records and released Wide-Eyed And Mystified which led to Covenant Awards (GMA Canada) for Recorded Song of the Year (for "A Better Way") and Rock Album of the Year and the 2007 Juno Award for Contemporary Christian/Gospel Album of the Year.

In 2007, the band released 2 additional CDs that were unique. In early 2007, they released Wide-Eyed and Simplified, which contained new versions of 8 songs from Wide-Eyed and Mystified, in addition to three popular songs from earlier releases.

Later in 2007, the band released Thunder After Lightning (The Uncut Demos). This album contained 15 previously unreleased demos which were considered for use on Wide-Eyed and Mystified but were not used. The CD also contained demo versions of 2 songs which were used on Wide-Eyed and Mystified.

Never heard of them either...so the radio is playing Christmas music in August...now that's really rushing the summer and season.

Praying all is well and Spencer has recuperated. I'm so glad that YOU
are so well equipped and God holds you up with SO MANY KINGS though HE is the King we worship: ALL for me!

Here are the words:

Follow the star to a place unexpected
Would you believe after all we’ve projected
A child in a manger

Lowly and small, the weakest of all
Unlikeliness hero, wrapped in his mothers shawl
Just a child
Is this who we’ve waited for?

Cause how many kings, stepped down from their thrones?
How many lords have abandoned their homes?
How many greats have become the least for me?
How many Gods have poured out their hearts
To romance a world that has torn all apart?
How many fathers gave up their sons for me?

Bringing our gifts for the newborn savior
All that we have whether costly or meek
Because we believe
Gold for his honor and frankincense for his pleasure
And myrrh for the cross he’ll suffer
Do you believe, is this who we’ve waited for?
It’s who we’ve waited for

How many kings, stepped down from their thrones?
How many lords have abandoned their homes?
How many greats have become the least for me?
How many Gods have poured out their hearts
To romance a world that has torn all apart?
How many fathers gave up their sons for me?
Only one did that for me

All for me
All for you
All for me
All for you

Blessings again Amy...I reread what you said and I guess what you wanted was any other songs...the only one that was familiar to me was from Matt Redman"Blessed Be the Name"...but some others are: Little is Much, A Better One, Here I Am, Great Are You.

There...hope that helps you!

Amy,

Praying Spencer is without seizures; and that Lucia has done her job.

Have a great weekend. I like the song too. Hadn't heard it before.

Thanks for sharing!

Hey Amy! I'm Downhere's bass player Glenn. Google alerted me to your post so I checked it out. I'm glad you found our music. It looks like your friend Peggy gave you all the information about us already! She pretty much had it all right too! The one thing I would add though is that we have a new album coming out on September 23rd. Our new radio single "Here I Am" is from that album. You can hear that at our myspace page or our web site.

Maybe we'll see you next time we are through the Atlanta area!

Amy,
You are so good to this every week, even in the mist of all that you have going on. Thank you.

Hey girl! Sorry it took me so long to post today. I was out on a date with my hubby last night. We actually both got dressed up and had a fancy meal in the city.

But of course after getting my bum on the scale, well lets just say that I won't be eating cinnamon rolls with the kids this morning!

I hope all is well with you and your family!

I really enjoyed the song. Thank you so much for sharing. I am so glad to hear that Spenser is doing better.

I have never heard that song, or of the group. It is funny how we can get a song in our head and not get it out. The theme song on Gone in 60 Seconds used to do that to me.

I finally managed to get my TSMS post up this evening.

Late to the game this week...been getting ready to go back to school (well getting the 13 yr old ready!)

Off to listen to some great music!

I'm sorry...I forgot to put in the particular post link, but now I'll remember! Thanks for saying something!
Amazing! A comment from the band! My dealings with a few classical musicians found them lacking. They were snobs to say the least. I forgot Christian musicians usually are Christians: kind! I'm blessed through you!!
Blessings,
Bella Mama

That is a beautiful song, Amy! I am sorry I haven't joined in in such a long while! I was just telling Jason that I hate to post a song when I know I won't have time to go and listen to many others. Our weekends have stayed so busy lately.

How has your week been so far? I pray that it has been off to a better start than how your last week ended up going! But I know that no matter what, God carried you through and will continue to do so!

Looking forward to next week!
Blessings, sweet Amy!
Love and prayers,
Kimberly

by the way (drop jaw) i saw glen lavender made his way to your post. that must have been a divine work, that you couldn't let go of the music in your mind until you posted it. God wanted to affirm the band that they are fulfilling their calling. way to go! praise God for divine appointments:$

I love this idea you have. I am a music lover. For some reason, now I can't get the sound on You-Tube on blogs! I have a link to this post on my blog today.
